Sybiha: Ukraine to Initiate EU Sanctions Against Networks Recruiting Africans for Russian Army on May 27

Ukraine will initiate EU sanctions against networks recruiting Africans for the Russian army and a lifelong entry ban for them. Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha stated that Russia is deceitfully involving thousands of Africans in the war as mercenaries.

Ukraine will initiate the imposition of sanctions against networks recruiting citizens of African countries into the Russian army at the EU Foreign Ministers' meeting on May 27. This was announced by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha.

According to him, Russia is massively recruiting mercenaries from Africa due to significant losses. Sybiha noted that Russia is deceitfully involving African youth in the war, not paying aid to the relatives of the deceased. Ukraine is aware of about three thousand citizens from a dozen African countries whom Russia has sent to their deaths.

Ukraine will also demand a lifelong ban on entry into the European Union for Africans fighting on Russia's side. Sybiha emphasized that signing a contract with the Russian army means a ban on travel to the EU. Earlier, on May 5, Great Britain already imposed sanctions against 35 individuals and organizations for recruiting migrants for the war in Ukraine.
