Rubizh Brigade Rescues Two Children from Dobropillia After Parents Killed by Drone
Soldiers from the Rubizh Brigade and police rescued two children, aged nine and six, from Dobropillia after a Russian drone killed their parents. The children were found with their grandmother, despite mandatory child evacuation orders. The rescue operation, filmed and published on May 17, also recovered the parents' bodies.
Soldiers from the Rubizh Brigade's «Syla Svobody» battalion and the police «White Angel» unit rescued a nine-year-old boy and his six-year-old sister from Dobropillia, Donetsk Oblast. Their parents were killed by a Russian drone strike in broad daylight. The children had been sheltering in a basement with their grandmother, who contacted police after an acquaintance informed her of her daughter and son-in-law's deaths.
Dobropillia was placed under mandatory child evacuation in July 2025, with no minors officially remaining by May 2026. The children's family had previously registered as displaced persons in Zaporizhzhia Oblast in 2022 but returned to Dobropillia. The rescue mission, filmed and published by the Rubizh Brigade on May 17, involved driving an armored vehicle into the heavily damaged city. The soldiers fed the children, who had been without proper food, and framed their departure as an adventure with their grandmother, who also evacuated. Comrades retrieved the parents' bodies.
