The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre (DRCC) national helpline recorded its highest number of calls ever in 2025, with 23,955 contacts. This represents an increase of over 5% from 2024 and 29% from 2023. Four in ten callers were first-time contacts.
DRCC also saw a significant rise in therapy appointments, delivering 7,270 sessions in 2025, up from 5,800 in 2024. This supported 838 individuals, a 31.5% increase from 2024 and nearly 70% over two years. The centre also completed over 500 accompaniments at Sexual Assault Treatment Units and 350 in garda and court settings.
Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan, who will launch the full report, described the figures as «stark», noting they indicate a society more open to discussing sexual violence. DRCC Chief Executive Rachel Morrogh acknowledged the courage of those who reached out, calling 2025 a demanding and defining year for the centre.
