Supo: Drone Incidents May Affect Support for Ukraine in Finland
Finnish intelligence (Supo) warns that Ukrainian drone incidents could reduce support for Ukraine and trust in authorities, benefiting Russia. On May 15, Finland declared an alert due to drones. Six instances of Ukrainian drones entering Finnish airspace have been recorded this spring.
The Finnish Security and Intelligence Service (Supo) warns that further incidents involving Ukrainian drones could impact public support for Ukraine and trust in authorities in Finland. This would be in Moscow's interest, and Russia might try to exploit it.
Supo considers new instances of Ukrainian attack drones entering Finnish territory likely as long as Ukraine continues its defense. The agency emphasized that Russia will use this situation in its information operations, so it is important to be prepared.
On the morning of May 15, an air raid alert was declared in the capital region of Uusimaa due to the possible entry of attack drones. This led to the suspension of operations at Helsinki Airport and the cancellation of flights, although no airspace violations were recorded. During the spring, there have already been six instances in Finland where Ukrainian drones, flying to attack Russian ports in the Baltic Sea, entered the country's airspace: four in late March and two in early May.
