Polish Police Detain Five Poles Aged 15-18 for Assault on Three Ukrainian Teenagers in Warsaw on May 7

Polish police have detained five Polish citizens aged 15 to 18 in connection with the brutal assault on three Ukrainian teenagers in Warsaw. This was announced by Marcin Kierwiński, Poland's Minister of Interior and Administration.

The incident occurred on May 7 on the Świętokrzyski Bridge in Warsaw. As a result of the attack, one of the Ukrainian teenagers sustained such serious injuries that he was hospitalized. On May 11, police stated that current findings and collected evidence do not indicate a nationalist motive behind the incident.

Marcin Kierwiński emphasized a «zero tolerance for aggression». He confirmed the detention of five individuals and reported that further procedural actions are underway to thoroughly investigate all circumstances of the event and establish the role played by each of the detainees. Procedural documentation is also being prepared for submission to the prosecutor's office.

It is worth recalling that last year, Oleksandr Plodysty, the Consul General of Ukraine in Gdańsk, responded to the beating of Ukrainian students at the Słupsk Construction School and xenophobic comments made by a local teacher. Also, in October last year, Wrocław police investigated a September incident where a group of teenagers lured a 23-year-old Ukrainian into a trap, then brutally beat and humiliated him.
