EU Finalizes €6 Billion Drone Package for Ukraine
The European Union is finalizing a 6 billion euro aid package for Ukraine, specifically for drones. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced this after a massive attack. The funds will support Ukrainian-made drones, with payment expected by June from a 90 billion euro loan.
The European Union is finalizing the preparation of a support package for Ukraine totaling 6 billion euros, designated for drone provision. This was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen following another massive shelling of Ukraine by Russia.
Von der Leyen noted on social media platform X that last night Russia carried out one of the longest and most brutal drone attacks on Ukraine. She emphasized: «It was another night of death and destruction. As well as arbitrary strikes on the civilian population. While Russia openly disregards diplomatic efforts, we continue to strengthen Ukraine. We are finalizing the preparation of a 6 billion euro aid package to provide drones».
Furthermore, the head of the European Commission added that the EU continues to increase pressure on Russia's war economy by introducing increasingly stringent sanctions. Earlier, on April 29, at a plenary session of the European Parliament, von der Leyen had already announced that Ukraine would receive 6 billion euros from the EU for drones in the second quarter of 2026. According to «European Pravda», this tranche of EU aid will be allocated for Ukrainian-made drones and will be paid no later than June from a 90 billion euro loan. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine would direct the first «military» tranche of 90 billion euros from the EU «to domestic production of defense».
